The ring was introduced into the Dutch market in September 2007 and had an auspicious start, with over 200 dealers by the end of that year. The demand for the ring soon crossed borders, and sales points in 7 different countries were introduced: The Netherlands, Germany, United Kingdom, Belgium, Austria, Denmark and Spain. The SwitchClick® ring is currently being sold enthusiastically in these countries by over 800 dealers. In The Netherlands the number of sales points has so far risen to 320 shops.

The history

E-mail
The idea of the SwitchClick® ring came into existence in the jewellery shops of Ina van ‘t Hoog in The Netherlands. As a result of the successful sales of beads like Pandora, TrollBeads, and Chamilia, Ina wondered whether it would be possible to develop a ring along the same premise as the bracelet: a ring that would allow you to always switch beads; a unique and individual piece of jewellery.

Working together with her goldsmith, a ring was developed and manufactured. It was at first produced on a small scale and sold only in Ina’s own shops. Soon, however, the demand for the ring made it clear that a larger number had to be produced. As it was impossible for the goldsmith to continue making each ring by hand, it was decided that the ring be produced in series.

The production process

E-mail
At first, each ring was manufactured by a goldsmith. However, in order to introduce the ring into the market, it proved necessary to come up with a way to produce the ring in higher quantities.

The search for a capable manufacturer led Ina to Schoonhoven, the silver capital of The Netherlands. Together with the manufacturer, the ring was further improved and given a perfect click. The balance between strength and flexibility is crucial: the rod needed to be developed in such a way as to ensure that it clicks into the ring perfectly so that the bead is not lost, while at the same being flexible enough to continually click in and out of the ring in order to switch beads. The right click compromise was found and the SwitchClick® ring was born!

The concept

E-mail
The idea behind the SwitchClick® ring was born in a jewellery store, and soon a whole concept evolved around the ring. This entailed designing a logo, leaflets, website, posters, packaging, certificates and a "in-store" DVD. A specially developed display was also created to showcase the rings. The SwitchClick® ring is therefore more than just a ring: it’s a concept. The dealer receives a complete pack which he can start using in the shop straight away!

Unique: no screws involved, simply click

E-mail
The success of the SwitchClick® ring soon led to different variants entering the market. Other brands, however, use a screw system. Their ring comes with a small screwdriver and changing the beads becomes a very precise job. The SwitchClick® ring has the unique click system, saving you from the fiddly work of using the tiny screws. Changing beads is done in a Switch and a Click!

Looking after the ring

E-mail
A silver piece of jewellery remains at its most beautiful when worn. When taken off, it usually ends up in a jewellery box or drawer. After a few weeks you decide to wear it again and realise that it has turned dark. Wearing jewellery keeps it clean. A piece of jewellery can be worn day and night; showering or bathing gets rid of any grease or dirt, keeping it beautiful. It is however important to note that, like other pieces of jewellery, the SwitchClick® ring is an ornament. Therefore it is better to take the ring off during certain activities or heavy duty work to avoid any possible damage.

Ring sizes

E-mail
The ring is available in the sizes K–X (including half sizes) or in the sizes 50-66. The size of the ring is best measured by using a bead, as the size of the bead influences the size of the ring. Depending on the bead, you can wear the ring around different fingers.

In action

The SwitchClick® ring is fitted with a rod that can be clicked in and out of the ring. Beads from known bead brands like Pandora, Trollbeads and Chamilia can be fitted around this rod. The rod and bead are then clicked back into the ring. This way you can wear the beads from your bracelet also on your finger.

The choice for clicking rather than screwing was consciously made. This saves you the need to fiddle with a screw and a screwdriver. The unique clicking system lets you switch in an instant.
